Our family is currently living through an unimaginable nightmare.

While traveling abroad, my husband, Misael (“Micky”), a proud American citizen, suffered life-threatening injuries and is currently heavily sedated, incapacitated, and fighting for his life in an intensive care unit in Mexico. The next several days are absolutely critical. His doctors have told us that the battle is not lost, but it is not won yet. He is fighting with everything he has, and we are fighting alongside him.

To know Misael is to know a man with a humble heart of gold. He has always been hardworking, honest, and devoted to his family and those around him. Whether helping a friend, supporting a loved one, or giving his time to someone in need, he has always put others before himself.

Misael had traveled to Mexico to visit and help care for his beloved grandmother, whose health had been severely declining. Family has always been one of his greatest priorities. During that visit, he became an innocent bystander in a tragic situation while selflessly helping a family member and her young children get to safety. In an instant, our lives changed forever.

Misael has always been incredibly proud of building his American dream. We are high school sweethearts who have been together for 12 beautiful years and married for 9. Together, we share a sweet 6-year-old son who needs his daddy more than words can say. Misael is a devoted husband, an incredible father, and a man deeply loved by so many. I know with everything in me that he wants nothing more than to be back home on American soil—to be HOME.

He is not out of the woods yet, and the road ahead is incredibly daunting. Every single dollar raised through this fundraiser will go directly toward his current international medical expenses, supporting our young son and me through this crisis, and covering the immense cost of a private medical evacuation (air ambulance) to safely bring him home to a hospital in the United States, where he belongs—our home—once he is stable enough to travel.
