Medical Emergency of Liam Fenner
Donation protected
On an ordinary day in January, Emily Fenner got a call from Liam Fenner’s daycare. He had a 102.5° fever. She left work early and picked him up. Over the next two days she had Liam at the pediatrician’s office through times. At the third appointment his alert doctor sent him to the pediatric ER at Edwards hospital where he was diagnosed with H1N1 (swine) flu, sinus infections and pink eye. A CT scan was done on his right eye that was swollen shut. An abscess was discovered and after some time it was decided Liam would be transferred to Lurie’s Children’s hospital downtown Chicago. Mom Emily and Liam arrived to several teams of doctors whom worked together to prepare Liam for surgery to clean out the sinus infection and abscess behind his right eye. It’s been three days since surgery and Liam is being evaluated for surgery again due to the abscess draining slowly. He will need several days of IV antibiotics and observation. We’re very fortunate to have help from family and friends who are bolstering Emily and Liam with love and support. Needless to say the road to recovery is just beginning and this is an enormous financial hardship for Emily. As a concerned mother and grandmother I’m starting this fundraiser for her and ultimately Liam. Please donate if you’re able. Thanks so much, Joyce Fenner
