Medical Emergency Fund for Matt Buettner
This fundraiser was set up to help our dear friend, Matt Buettner, with expenses while he navigates an unforeseen and sudden medical emergency.
While Matt's Georgia vacation was nearing the end, he noticed a strange bump on his foot. By the following day it turned black and blue, and he became unable to walk. In excruciating pain, he was taken to a local hospital and they determined he had an irregular heartbeat, fever, chills, and was in need of supplemental oxygen as well as an array of medications. His initial diagnosis was Sepsis which is a life-threatening response to organ and tissue injury caused by an infection. After several days of testing, CT scans, X-ray's and heart monitoring, Matt was diagnosed with a rare bacterial infection called Necrotizing Fasciitis, which affects less than 20,000 people in the US each year. The hospital immediately began a new course of antibiotics and Matt will meet with the medical team tomorrow to find out what the next step is. At this point there is no plan to discharge anytime soon, and he has no idea when he will be able to 1). Return home to Billings and 2). Return back to work. All that is known is that he will be undergoing treatment in Georgia until he can beat the infection and is ultimately deemed healthy enough to return home.
There's a lot on the table right now with him being out of state, not working, and away from his home. I'm praying those that love this amazing guy can come together and share some financial support to help with his loss of income, normal household expenses, and not to mention the large medical debt he is accruing.
Anyone that calls Matt their friend knows, he's not only hilarious and charming, but he's kind and always willing to help anyone in need. So, let's show him some love and support through this challenging time.
Anything donated through GoFundMe will go directly into Matt's personal financial account.
