UPDATE: 5/1/23

Angel got great news yesterday! He is moving to the 5th floor today for rehab! His body responded really well to the plasma treatments and the focus moving forward is to help him regain his strength to walk. His goal is to be out by Saturday the 6th so that he can attend his graduation! It will depend on his recovery but it’s a great motivator for him. Once he is discharged he will get set up with a neurologist who will monitor him as well as continued outpatient PT.

Currently on plasma exchange which is Plasmapheresis to help detox my body of bad antibodies. This treatment is rough on the body so I’ve been feeling really drained and tired but overall feel a little bit better to recovery. I’ve started pt again to walk and learning the steps to adjusting to what my capabilities are

Original post: Hi, my name is Heather Shomler. I started this GoFund me in hopes to raise some money to help my friend, Angel Libby. Angel is 21 years old and has been working along side of me this year finishing his internship as a Social Worker, supposed to be walking for graduation next month. Angel woke up Saturday, April 15th unable to feel his legs. As the day progressed his symptoms got worse and he was admitted into Alaska Regional. Since being in the hospital for 10 days now, Angel’s condition has progressively got worse with no known Diagnosis. He lost all functions to walk and has little function of his hands as his numbness has moved from his legs, throughout his whole body, and into his face. Yesterday, Angel was admitted into the ICU where they are doing a plasma treatment trying to clean his blood.

I am hoping that I can raise some money to help Angel pay for his expenses while In the hospital as well as medical expenses when he gets out.

Because his nervous system has been attacked, even after diagnosing, and treating he is looking a quite the road of recovery to be able to walk and do daily functions again.

He is such a loving and happy person. He is fighting hard to get through this! I hope that we can relieve some of the stress by keeping his bills managed while he fights whatever is going on!
