A Heartfelt Plea for Help: Supporting Our Father’s Emergency Medical Care
Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers,
My name is Jaspreet, and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart and a humble request for support during an unimaginably difficult time for our family.
Just days ago, my father-in-law—who is here in Canada on a visitor visa—suffered a devastating fall while simply trying to put on his pyjamas. His leg got caught, and he fell hard on his left side. What seemed like a small accident quickly turned into a medical emergency. After being rushed to Peter Lougheed Hospital, multiple scans revealed a severe neck fracture. He was immediately transferred to Foothills Hospital for urgent spinal surgery.
What followed was a cascade of life-threatening complications.
After surgery, he was placed in the ICU for four days. When transferred to the spinal unit for recovery, he developed a serious stomach infection, which led to internal bleeding and a dangerously elevated heart rate. He was rushed back to the ICU—this time for another three days. His condition remains fragile, and his treatment is still ongoing.
While we are grateful he is receiving life-saving care, the financial burden is crushing.
We had medical insurance in place, but as visitors, the coverage was limited—$100,000, which was exhausted within the first 10 days. The ICU alone costs $13,800 per day, and room charges are $4,500 per day—this doesn’t even include the surgeons’ and specialists’ fees.
Now, every upcoming medical bill—ongoing treatments, follow-up appointments, medication, rehabilitation—must be paid out of pocket. With no option to renew or purchase new insurance, we are left feeling helpless and overwhelmed. As a family with a modest income, the mounting bills are far beyond what we can afford. The anxiety and emotional toll are growing by the day.
We never imagined we’d be in this position. But today, we are asking for help—not just for financial support, but for hope.
Every donation, no matter how small, brings us closer to being able to care for a man who is not just a father-in-law, but a cherished member of our family—a grandfather, a gentle soul, and someone who means the world to us.
Please consider contributing and sharing our story. Your generosity will not only help cover these overwhelming medical costs but also bring comfort and relief during this incredibly uncertain time.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your prayers, kindness, and support.
With gratitude,
Jaspreet & Family
