Help Saqib Walk Again - Urgent Hip Surgery Fundraiser (£6,500 Target)
My name is Muhammad Saqib Ata. I’m 26 years old, and every day I wake up fighting a silent battle — one that's robbed me of my mobility, dignity, and independence.
My Story
Two years ago, I suffered a serious hip fracture, due to a car accident. At the time, I underwent numorous surgeries to try and rectify the issue and believed I would recover. But instead of healing, things got materially worse. Slowly, I began losing movement in my right leg. I felt pain deep in my bones, spreading down my thigh and groin. Climbing stairs became a challenge. Then walking. Then even sleeping.
After months of agony, scans confirmed my worst fear: I was diagonsed with Avascular Necrosis (AVN) — a condition where the blood supply to my hip bone has been cut off, causing it to die from the inside out.
Now, I live in constant pain, relying on morphine and other strong painkillers just to get through the day. My leg has grown very weak, I’ve developed a noticeable limp and now I have to walk with crutches, and my posture is starting to tilt. I can't sit properly, can't pick things up, and sometimes I can’t even make it to the bathroom without help. Also, I had to give up my life long passion of playing cricket.
I am flying out to Pakistan on the 30th July 2025. The reason for my travel is because I can't cope up on my own with the pain. I need constant care and support, which my family members in Pakistan will be able to provide.
Why I Can’t Wait
Doctors have told me that my condition has reached the final stage — the bone has already collapsed, and the damage is permanent. The only option left is a ceramic-on-ceramic total hip replacement — a specialised surgery designed to last decades for younger patients like me. But this surgery needs to happen urgently, or the damage could spread to my spine, knees, or other hip due to imbalanced walking.
Waiting longer isn’t just painful — it’s dangerous. The longer I delay, the worse my posture gets. My muscles are weakening. My independence is slipping away. I’m 26, but I feel like I’m trapped in the body of an 80-year-old.
Why I Need Your Help
I have been told that it would be a 12-18 months wait, for me have this operation in the UK - I simply cannot wait this long.
I have done a lot of research about having this operation done overseas. In Pakistan, I am able to have this surgery, but it would cost £6500. This is an amount I can't afford on my own and this is why I have used this GoFundMe fundraiser as a final resort.
How the Funds Will Be Used
This cost of £6500 will cover everything needed, from pre-op to recovery. This includes all hospital charges and the surgery, the actual ceramic on ceramic implant, all scanning and images and Physio and rehab.
Your donation will help me:
Get the hip replacement I urgently need
Walk without pain again
Stop relying on opioids and walking aids
Regain my ability to work, move, and live a normal young adult life
Every pound you share will go towards my surgery and recovery. Even if you can’t donate, sharing this message could help me reach someone who can. I will provide updates on this page as they happen.
Please Help Me Walk Again
This isn’t just about surgery. It’s about getting my life back. About walking beside my loved ones again. About having a future where pain doesn’t define me.
Thank you for reading my story. Thank you for standing by me when I can’t stand on my own.
With hope and gratitude,
– Saqib
