Hi, my name is Saundra and this is my niece (Rebekah) & nephew (Justin) & their new baby. On 2/3 sweet Alyssa was born 3 weeks early from emergency c section from complications in the pregnancy. The baby was admitted 2/6 for hemoglobin/blood issues as well as jaundice. Thankfully she was discharged on the 8th. As the family settled in Mom started to feel extremely ill over the next few days. At her checkup on 2/16 they sent her straight to the hospital with an infection. She had a 3hr surgery in the middle of the night to save her life. A second surgery was performed the 17th. Her Uterus & ovary as well as her c section site were badly infected. They are like most of us, limited days out of work as well as now they are only one income until Rebekah is able to return to work. My nephew had no more days off nor could they afford for him to risk his job so he had to work while she is fighting to survive. Due to the infection her incision has to remain open. She will survive but has several months of recovery with home healthcare, drains & a wound vac. She will have limited mobility. Rebekah will need assistance through the day, not to mention not fully being able to care for her new infant on her own. They only planned for her to be out of work 3-4 weeks. (she has no paid maternity leave) She has at least tripled that.
Alyssa is what she has prayed for for years & has been told most of her life she would never have. They are devoted Christians & their faith in God’s plan is keeping them strong. Rebekah is also a soloist in her church. She has a passion for her music & her family.
There will be medical needs, rent, baby supplies as well as just keeping the lights on while she recovers.
Rebekah & Justin are always there when any of their family or friends need them. They are one of the first to volunteer their time to support & love us through any situation. We appreciate your prayers & support & ask that you help us share this GoFundMe campaign on your social media so that we can reach the many people as possible. If you are able to donate, every dollar helps, thank you in advance.
