My good friend, Rick Mason, is one of the kindest people you could ever meet. He is a Christian man who blesses everyone around him from a servant's heart.
For more than ten years, Rick had been serving as the Activity Director for 100 people with significant mental and physical disabilities at a group home in the suburbs of Chicago. While he earned a minimal salary, he was not able to afford the health insurance the company offered.
On July 2, 2022, his 72-year-old mother, who was living in a subsidized assisted living facility, passed away suddenly. While on Medicare, she did not have life insurance to help with her funeral expenses.
Just two weeks after his mother passed away, Rick was diagnosed with a large tumor growing in his right kidney.
On January 25, 2023, Rick underwent a 9 hour surgical procedure to remove his right kidney. The kidney and the cancerous mass they removed weighed more than 15 lbs.
By the grace of God, Rick is now cancer-free and his left kidney has proven strong enough to do the work of both kidneys, meaning he will not have to be on dialysis. While he is making progress and getting better every day, he still has a way to go in the healing process and is not yet able to return to work.
Rick has been overwhelmed by all of the prayers and support (spiritual, emotional, and financial) he has received from so many people.
The medical bills are now starting to come in and because he has been unable to work for more than four months, he is struggling with making his monthly living expenses.
We are helping raise money for Rick to cover the costs of the surgery, which are expected to be about $30,000, as well as helping him catch up on his living expenses which have fallen behind.
Friends, your help is MUCH needed. Those who know Rick will tell you he is truly one of the kindest and most caring people they've ever known. While he doesn't have a lot of financial resources, he has an abundance of love and friendship that he's willing to offer to anyone in need, especially those who most people forget.
May God abundantly reward you for your kindness and generosity in helping this wonderful Christian man. Blessings in Jesus.
