Luke and August Griffith welcomed their 3rd child, John Carter Griffith, into the world at 2:53am on April 24th, 2024.
After a concerning ultrasound at 20 weeks showing a cyst in the baby’s brain, August & Luke decided to do genetic testing. The amniocentesis results showed John has two rare genetic conditions, Wolf-Hirschhorn Syndrome and Trisomy 12. After months of ultrasounds, blood labs, and weekly perinatal specialist appointments throughout their high-risk pregnancy, John was safely delivered at 38 weeks at Northside Hospital of Atlanta.
Upon delivery, he was immediately admitted to the NICU to begin tests and assessments due to his diagnosis. As of Monday April 29th, he is making great progress in the Special Care Unit and no longer requires respiratory support. John is currently on an NG tube for feedings and hopes to come home sometime in May.
There is a wide range of various disabilities involved with these two syndromes and it is challenging to know at this time exactly what John’s needs will be in the coming years. He will continue to get various imaging and lab tests with genetic and pediatric specialists along with different therapies including speech, occupational, and physical therapy.
This is a very difficult time for the Griffiths. Contributing to them financially and helping with the medical costs they have incurred and will continue to incur is a great way that we can show them our Love and Support. Please continue to pray for the Lord’s mercy and grace over their family in the days, months, and years ahead.
