Medical Costs for Randy Boylan

Donation protected
On December 14, 2019, my step-dad Randy was at a store where he ended up getting weak and falling. He went to the hospital later that evening and was admitted into the hospital. The hospital ran tests, but he began losing feeling in his legs and toes. They decided to do a 2 hour MRI, but he was unable to complete it due to pain. He was scheduled to be transferred to another hospital to get the MRI done under anesthesia. The anesthesiologist refused. A neurosurgeon made it mandatory to be completed by Monday, December 23, 2019. They were able to complete the MRI, but family was not told any results until Christmas eve at 9:30pm. My mom was told he had an "infection" in his back and was going to be transferred immediately to University Hospital. Once he was transferred he underwent emergency surgery at 4am Christmas day. This was when we found out he had an abscess on his spine causing him to get weak, fall, and fracturing his vertebrae. The the cavity of the vertebrae was filled with blood when they went to conduct the surgery where they put multiple rods and screws in. A couple days later they found another fracture that could heal on its own. About a week later a blood clot was found in his lungs, his lungs were full of fluid, and he began to go into AFib. My step-dad has been residing at University Hospital, and now we are in the process of finding a rehab facility close to home. The doctors have stated that rehab may not help causing him to be paralyzed from the waist down. My mom is in the process of finding contractors to make their house handicapped accessible. With all the hardship financially occuring we would be grateful for any donation to help with medical expenses. We just want Randy (our dad, husband, and friend) to not worry about expenses and just focus on getting stronger to prove to the doctors he will walk again.
