Aloha,
I never, in a million years thought i would be writing to ask my friends, family and strangers for financial assistance BUT when it comes to your children and their health you do everything you can......
Here's our story.
We moved to Maui Hawaii back in 2019, when my husband Dayton got a job offer here. We were so very excited to move to the islands as my husband was born here and Maui has always had our hearts. We use to reside in Riverside County California before making our move. Our daughter MacKenna has a Rare Chromosomal Deletion called 2Q37 mirco deletion syndrome (roughly 100 cases world wide) and has had an extensive list of medical issues and conditions since birth. She has overcome so much in her short 7 years. Currently MacKenna still needs continuous medical care that includes imaging, procedures and surgeries for her heart. She has WPW Wolf Parkinson White syndrome, Ebstines Anomaly and has had a Aortic Valve Correction. She needs to have E.K.Gs and Echo cardiograms done every 6 months to a year to monitor her condition. The last echo MacKenna had back in June 2019(almost a year ago, were almost over due for another one!!) in California showed she was still considered moderate to severe for the holes in her tricuspid valve. They were measuring about 4.3 cm, one on the top of the valve and 4.6 for the one at the bottom, Her dr suggested placement for her heart monitor and a nerve ablation for her wpw, to help take some of the stress off her heart and to avoid cardiac failure. She will need to be flown to Oahu for her procedures and she may require surgery for the valve repair.
Since moving to Hawaii, Mackenna has not been able to get coverage through Medicade like she had back in California. We have applied maybe 10 times since moving and shes been denied over and over. We have taken her to establish care here in Maui and set up with new cardiologist on Oahu.
My husband and i are full time workers with good jobs and insurance, but MacKenna's health coverage is extensive and has a lot of co pays and a high deductible. The yearly deductible for her care is $9,500/a year for out of pocket cost, anything additional MacKenna may require would then be fully covered by Kaiser after her full deductible has been paid.
We are asking for your prayers for MacKenna that her health would continue to improve and we can get her the medical care she needs.
If you can (and only if you can!! we know times are tough due to COVID)
please donate, anything helps! if you cannot please say a prayer and share this Go Fund Me any chance you get.
We thank you for your time and for your prayers and any donations.
Mahalo Plenty!
The Koch Family.
If we are able to reach our goal to cover MacKenna's yearly deductible I will be sure to edit this with a copy of her insurance coverage and her set date for surgery on Oahu. Thank you.
