JosePerez-Therapies, Medical Costs, Doctor's Appts

On Wednesday, March 22nd, 2023 my dad suffered a convulsion and was rushed to the ER. Tests were done, through a CAT Scan and MRI, a 5.1 cm meningioma was found. He underwent neurosurgery on March 24th, 2023 to remove the mass which resulted in hemiparesis on his left side extremities due to brain compression and brain invasion into the supplementary motor cortex and motor cortex on the right side of his brain. To regain mobility he will have to go through intensive physical, occupational, and speech therapy 1-2 times per week for each for at least 8 weeks (2 months). In addition, he will continue to go to neuro doctor's visits (neurosurgeon, neurologist, & oncologist) and primary doctor's visits (including nutritionist/dietitian).

Both my parents are hard-working individuals, we care for one another, and we are asking for your help to cover medical costs. My mom and I are caring for my dad taking turns around the clock as he was not admitted into an acute rehab facility. With the help of friends and family, we have been able to move him in and out of bed into a wheelchair; but to get him a fast and safe recovery he has to attend these therapies and doctor's visits. We are making arrangements and adapting to this sudden change in the best way possible; thank you for any help you can provide to help cover these costs.

Today April 7th, 2023 we find ourselves again in the Emergency Room. We wish for healing and peace during these difficult times.

Results came back and it was discovered a hemorrhage stroke occurred, the lab results for the tumor also came back as both malignant and benign cells and it was classified as a grade II atypical meningioma. My dad will have to go through radiation to remove any faint enhancement seen within the parenchyma below the resection cavity to avoid any chance of the tumor returning as it is an aggressive tumor that eats through brain matter and cuts through cranial bone. I’m not sure how to wrap my head around all this. We are taking it one day at a time.

On April 22nd, 2023 my dad had a 3rd convulsion due to lack of sleep, weakness, sun irritability, weather changes, and his seizure medications. We were given a strict regime to follow. No visits other than hi and bye, no phone calls, no stressful situations, no pressure to avoid another hemorrhage, and a lot of attentiveness to his care such as food and water intake. He has a long road to recovery but we trust with love and all the help we have received from friends, family, and our community we can bring Dad back to a normal life.

On May 1st we had a consultation at Barrow Neurological Institute at Dignity Health St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center. They have run CT scans and MRI to determine that radiation will begin on May 16th, 2023 Monday through Friday for 15 minutes for 6 weeks. Due to his diabetes; his healing and recovery process is taking time, he has regained some mobility in his leg but continues to have close to none in his arm. He is still very weak and has lost a lot of weight.

Please continue to advocate for my father's case and share. If you know of any programs that my father can apply to for charity or at-home care please reach out. Your donations have helped in paying for all the physical therapy sessions, doctor's appointments, medical equipment, and medication. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
