Marley Mae, a potcake rescue from Bahamas is the love of my life. We walk and run a lot. Every day. For 6 years. We never miss … unless it’s pouring rain or a hurricane is near! Now, we can no longer go for long walks on the beach or runs in the park. Not for a long time! That all ended on August 7, 2025. 

On August 7, during a visit to Tallahassee (Bradfordville Dog Park), I had an unexpected severe injury. While walking with my Bahamian potcake, I was met by a group of dogs. All good except one short, stocky dog who stood on my left foot which had major surgery.  I panicked. I screamed for the owner to get the dog. I could see 4 women nearby but they all ignored my pleas for help! As I struggled to get away, the dog continued to stand on my foot. I screamed again for help. He was HEAVY! My feet were crossed, and I could not move one of them. Then, I knew I was going down. My body went left, and my ankle folded underneath me. I SCREAMED!!! “Help! Someone help me!” The pain was excruciating! An unknown bystander called an ambulance. The woman who had the brown/white stocky dog was running away. YES !! No one helped me. They just walked by me. I left in an ambulance.

Surgery  was successful on August 15. Long recovery ahead. Six months to a year. 

The reason for my GoFundMe is to try to get my life back to normal as much as possible while I heal. I am not at home. I want to go home to Jupiter as soon as possible. I want to relieve my friend of the burden of taking care of me in Tallahassee. Once I get back home with my dog Marley Mae, I will need help with walking her. I will move to a new apartment WITHOUT stairs.
