I've never done this before, nor did I ever think I would have to, but here goes.
Recently my wife Mandy (Amanda) Vandenburg was diagnosed with rectal cancer. The type of cancer is small cell carcinoma. Doctors are perplexed as this type of cancer is seen in less than 1% of cancer patients as it's normally found in the lungs. Doctors are currently taking her case to other doctors throughout Michigan to see how to best attack it. It has been a very busy time for us since the dreadful day of January 19th, 2022. We have had multiple appointments, scans, tests, and a surgery to put a port in for her chemo that starts on February 16th. Mandy maybe having part or all of her rectum removed and radiation is probably going to begin very soon as well. There is still just so much up in the air as Doctors are trying to figure out the best course of treatment.
Unfortunately during this time my wife is getting more and more ill and she is in a tremendous amout of pain. Mandy requires my help for just about everything and I'm currently off work and money is running out quick as bills are starting to pile up. I am a Lieutenant for the Michigan Dept. Of Corrections with 21 years of service. We have been married for 2 1/2 years and have a blended family of Logan 15, Beau 14, Landon 12, and Parker 11. We also are animal lovers and have 4 dogs Millie (Boxer), Chase (Boxador), Benson (Boxer), and Phoebe (Boxer).
Anything you can spare will help and is much appreciated.
God Bless,
Erick Vandenburg
