Medical cost assistance for Shanti Auntie
Donation protected
Hi all, I am writing to ask for help for my dear Shanti auntie. She is in her sixties and has been battling heart disease for over fifteen years and recently she was diagnosed with kidney disease as well. She has two children and two grandchildren; her husband is a retired police officer and they live in Biratnagar, the eastern region of Nepal. Because of her pre-existing heart condition, she does not qualify for health insurance, and the recent news of her kidney disease has made things even harder. They are now in debt because she was unexpectedly hospitalized for over two months. With merely minimal pension as their income, their debt is continuing to pile on every week as she requires kidney dialysis weekly to live. She is home now, but the toll of weekly hospital visits and the cost of the dialysis weighs heavily on the family's emotional health and finances. Due to her co-morbidities (diabetes, hypertension, and heart condition), the doctors have no lasting treatment for her condition; she will have to depend on the regular dialysis for the rest of her life to survive and try to have a normal life with her family.
Shanti Auntie has always been a wonderful aunt to us, she is full of life and always joking. As she battles her condition, she never ceased to be hopeful and full of joy, and she was always a model of courage and faith to us. I hope that if your situation allows, that you will make a donation to help the family lessen their burden and become a source of support to them. Our goal is $5,000, which will cover close to a year of dialysis cost for her, the weekly cost is around $100 USD. I know every dollar you can give will bring Shanti Auntie, her husband, her children, Sirjana and Samir, and her two grandchildren hope in tackling this daunting situation and rest in knowing that they are supported by friends and family all over the world.
