Street Medicine for the Homeless

The fundraiser is specifically for our clinic for the homeless, Father Joe’s Village Health Center . This is the “home” of the family medicine and psychiatry combined residency program - the clinic was co-created along with this program, and remains the continuity site for combined residents throughout all 5 years of our training.
Exciting things continue to happen here, like our new Street Medicine program, which allows us to bring medical care outside the clinic to our less mobile homeless population. This program is still in the beginning stages, and still in need of basic equipment like a defibrillator - a life-saving device used to restart the heart in the event of cardiac arrest. The cost of these runs around $1250, which is our current goal. Any funds we obtain that exceed this goal will be utilized for the street medicine program, or for another exciting endeavor - the expansion of child medical and dental care into the Therapeutic Child Care Building. As one of our most vulnerable populations, homeless children will be able to benefit from this addition by improved access to care.
