Update on Marta's decision for medical care:
We are so grateful for the $100 donation that came in through this Go Fund Me campaign for Marta. Another friend also covered her previous trip to the city for an appointment at a Cancer Center in Guatemala City! There are no options for chemotherapy or treatments for cancer in Peten, but there are a few options in Guatemala City.
She definitely needed more funding to go to Hope 4 Cancer in Mexico. She was referred to a clinic for cancer patients with low income here in Guatemala City! At the appointment she went to for advanced ovarian cancer, they originally only offered her palliative care (which meant draining her abdomen approx. once a month), now they are saying they want to start chemotherapy treatments this Saturday!
She has an appointment for palliative care this Monday and her first chemotherapy treatment is scheduled for this Saturday, September 13th. Thank you all for your prayers for Marta!
The cancer center she was referred to for low income families is in Guatemala City, which includes a 10 hour bus ride each time she needs to get there as well as a 10 hour bus ride back after each treatment or a 45 minute plane ride. Once she is in Guatemala City it is about 2 hours in taxi from the bus station or the airport.
At this point she has decided to try the chemotherapy although she is nervous. I would like to try to help raise funds to cover her transportation to the city and back.
We appreciate all prayers and donations for Marta to heal!
Thank you and God bless you!
