Medical Care for Maggie

Donation protected
On Labor Day at Burger Park (a dog park in Smyrna) a couple released a pit bull mix into the large dog area of the park. The pit bull mix immediately ran towards the fence which separates the small and large dogs. The dog was able to barrel through a gap at the base of the fence and entered into the small dog area. Once the dog cleared the fence it attacked a 5 month old West Highland Terrier puppy named Maggie. Maggie was rushed to the nearest emergency vet and the couple with the pit bull mix dog were not identified or seen again.

Due to the attack, Maggie has a fracture in her cheek bone, a fracture close to her jaw joint and multiple C1  fractures close to the skull. She also has a broken neck.

On 9/3, surgeons operated on Maggie and put a plate and screws in at the jaw joint.  She is projected to come home on 9/4 to start her 4-6 weeks of recovery. She will wear a muzzle to keep her jaw in place and will need to have as little movement as possible to heal properly.

In an effort to help alleviate the financial burden for Maggie's owners, Thomas and Ania, we are rallying together to help pay for the medical bills that they have been faced with. Any and all contributions will help take some of the financial stress away as they focus on the road to recovery with Maggie.
