Medical Care for Deanna

Our kind hearted Deanna is currently in Mexico on IV support and being monitored.
She needs our love, care and financial support right now
What happened?
In late December, and then again in mid-January, Deanna became ill and remedied herself back to health. In early February, she became ill again, this time weakening her much further to the point of needing direct and sustained support. Her search for this was arduous and pushed her into a fragile state.
After fighting illness for an extended period of time, she had little reserves left, was extremely weak, with low oxygen intake, low body temp and severe dehydration setting in.
Several mornings ago Deanna was taken to a small hospital in Mexico, as she was holding on by a thin thread and feeling in between worlds.
She was diagnosed with Bacterial Pneumonia that has now caused serious scar tissue on her lungs. (Pulmonary Fibrosis) She tested negative for both active covid and for antibodies and antigens.
This scar tissue is highly worrying and needs medical tending so it doesn't worsen.
They are also running tests to see if it has impacted her other organs… It has become clear in the past 24hours that the care she is receiving at the small hospital is sporadic, confusing and ultimately not sufficient to support her to stabilize.
This morning, she was flown in an air ambulance to Mexico City, where her mother is meeting her.
She has been on copious IV fluids, which has helped reverse severe dehydration, given her some nourishment and helped her energy to improve, but she becomes very weak if off the IV for any length of time.
She seems to be still fighting the infection and her white blood cell count is low.
We don't want to risk losing this beauty!
We are starting this campaign to support:
* Flights for Deanna back to Canada (there is a high chance if her condition gets more critical she will need to be airlifted to Canada; we will have full details and cost summary soon)
* Hospital fees
* Medical supplies and testing while in Mexico
*. Financial support to rent a space close to the hospital in Mexico until Deanna is stable enough to fly back to Canada for medical care
* Financial relief for whilst she recovers (rent/ caregiver/health supplements and therapies)
Deanna has long been part of the Saltspring community and generously gives her presence to those that cross her path.
She has such a love for flowers, nature and swimming, her heart is deep loving and kind
We would love to see her back in full health..
