Medical care for Cheese the duck
Donation protected
Cheese is a Pekin duck who was abandoned at a retention basin around Easter last year. My fiancé and I set up a rescue for her and eventually were finally able to bring her home. She was being overmated, was malnourished, and overall had a really difficult life. She came back to our home with us where she has a ton of space, her best friend Quackers (also a Pekin), and a loving family now.
Unfortunately, despite having netting in their run, a hawk was able to break into the coop and attacked her, leaving a deep wound on her back. We got her treated, which ended up costing $1,200, which we were able to pay, but she will have to have subsequent bandage changes every 3-4 days for the next 3 weeks, with each visit costing $400. I know times are very difficult for everyone at the moment with so much uncertainty and grocery prices continuing to not let up, but any amount of help at all would mean the world to us and Cheese. Thanks so much for reading.
-Any amount raised beyond the goal will go towards additional fortification/security for their enclosure and her on-going checkups.
