Hi, my name is Carmen and I am fundraising for my parent’s needs.
My mom recently had 2 back surgeries and is unable to care for herself. She has RA, COPD, Interstitial Lung disease amongst many other diagnosis.
Mom requires the use of oxygen 24/7 and cannot walk but a few steps at a time. She is unable to bend, turn and stoop. She requires assistance for personal hygiene and has been falling repeatedly, often times without having the aide of someone. Her medications for RA suppress her immune system and consequently has recurrent infections that require her to go to the ER or be hospitalized.
At the moment, she is out of hospice-home-health-care as she has to do physical therapy and insurance cannot cover both simultaneously.
With the money that has been donated, we have purchased occupational/elderly aides to help my mom with daily living tasks, have someone help her for a couple of hours once a week, and more.
My dad, who provided most of the help to my mom both physically and financially was in car accident that broke his cervical spine, leaving him unable to move, breathe, swallow and more. He has sadly and unexpectedly passed away from that car accident after being hospitalized for a few weeks. (May our wonderful and extremely loving dad R.I.P)
We have been and will continue working on getting resources and ways to meet my mom’s basic needs.
As you know, every process involves a few tasks but we hope this can be resolved this year. In the meantime, is where the struggle lies.
My mom is unable to do much as her multiple ailments affect her cognitive and physical abilities, but she sure is trying her best!
We have been having to leave my mom alone more times than any daughter would like in order to get things done from my dad’s passing and to be able to get my mom situated medically, legally and financially.
Gena may move in with mom but we first need to understand what the legal, medical and financial implications are of every move we make to ensure her wellbeing and best interest.
Please know that we are infinitely grateful and could not do enough to show you how so humbled and grateful we are by the help we have received for our super sweet mom so far! ❤️
Gena also wants to offer help for anyone you know that may be, now or in the future, going through a similar situation. Learning all the to-do’s can be a challenge in itself and I would be honored to help guide anyone in need with what all we have learned!
In a few months, and once we have things settled, we hope to be well seasoned in these matters enough to provide some guidance and support so please feel free to give your friends or loved ones her social media for any advice or support she can give!
