I never imagined having to write one of these until now, when I couldn’t imagine not. My cat, Mr. Business Man, whom has chosen me and I him as mutual safe-haven, familiar, and all around buddy, was admitted to the emergency vet last night due to severe liver complications. I recently moved and the stress from the move caused Biz to stop eating. I never thought I would be in a position to make such drastic calls about his life so soon, but here we are. Without really knowing how I am going to financially support Biz’s care I knew I had to give him a fighting chance and pursue treatment. His prognosis if he can make it through initial treatment is an 80-90% survival rate. In the two short years I have spent with Biz he has offered me so many gifts and has been a pillar of comfort through moves, separations, and enormous life changes.
I attached the invoice from hospitalization which I was able to pair down with the vet to cost about half as much as this high end estimate. Biz is young and resilient and I am full of hope that he will pull through this and continue to live a long, spunky life. In the meantime, this is one of those scenarios, I couldn’t not ask for help.
I do not expect that friends and family will all be able to help out financially, in fact I am touched if you made it this far in reading this. Either way, I am eternally grateful for support in all forms of me and my Biz Boy.
