Update 9/25 Thank you to all of our family and friends. Richard wanted me to update this. The last month has been a whirlwind, lots of appointments, navigating his new normal, and taking the good with the bad days. He finished 10 treatments of radiation. After radiation they met again with the radiology doctor and was told he was done with radiation for now but that he did have a tumor in his lung, liver, and still in his shoulder bone/collar bone area. He was finally officially diagnosed with bile duct cancer. His plan is to start chemo this Thursday. He should be getting a call to have his port placed this week before Thursday. The goal is to give him more time with all of us. Just because you’re sick life doesn’t stop. My mom has been taking care of Richard full time, they run errands when he’s feeling up to it after appointments, but even that is a mission some days. They’ve had to make some modifications to their home to better accommodate Richard. He did get approved for disability, he doesn’t start getting the benefits until the end of October but there’s one less thing to stress about. I was asked to extend the go fund me goal to help with things no one really anticipates. So far he was able to get himself a lift chair/recliner that has helped tremendously, in the process of making their shower safer to be able to walk and stand or sit in a shower chair, and a Walker/chair to go out and be mobile. If you cannot donate please share and send a prayer or a good vibe his way.
The Hi, my name is Erica. I am starting a go fund me for my dad Richard. As many of you know, Richard has been given scary news. He was told last Friday that he has stage 4 cancer they believe started in his intestines and has spread to his left shoulder arm bone, liver, and lymph nodes near his liver. They are going to try to find a treatment plan to give him as much time as they can. He is working with an oncologist and a pain specialist. On top of this heartbreaking news, our family is beyond stressed about the cost of everything. He has an upcoming PET scan that is going to cost over $600 after insurance and honestly it’s been tight budget before being diagnosed. Richard tore his left shoulder rotator cuff earlier this year and that’s when this nightmare all began. He was sent to a ortho doc to fix his shoulder which is still tore only to find out there was a much more serious problem going on. He’s been off of work since. We are working on getting him long term disability but all of this takes time to get approved and it doesn’t pay the bills in the meantime. If you could share this on your feed or donate anything to help we’d sure appreciate it. Thanks for everyone’s love and support. If you have questions feel free to ask.
