Sage Sutherland, daughter of Heath and Macy, was, until a few weeks ago, an active, and precocious little three year old. She made everyone around her laugh, and she literally loved to stop and smell the flowers. Suddenly, however, her ability to walk and run and speak began to decline. After many doctors, tests, treatments, and a two week stay at Children’s Methodist in San Antonio, they have been moved to Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston. They have been there for one week, running more tests to decide best treatment. She has been diagnosed with autoimmune encephalitis, still researching cause, and treatments include steroids, IVIG, and plasmapheresis. All long term and very hard on a little three year old and her parents, who also have their six week old son staying close by with relatives. Prayers for this sweet family are much appreciated. They are away from home indefinitely (3-4 weeks, at least) and are in for weeks of treatments and then rehabilitation.
