PLEASE help Michelle Guasp with stroke and cancer bills

Hello everyone. Our dear friend, family member, colleague, Michelle Guasp, is going through a challenging time in her life right now and needs our prayers, love and support. Michelle is an incredibly independent, strong and compassionate woman: always there to lend a hand and help whoever she can. Circumstances beyond her control have hit hard and hopefully we can help her. In May of 2019 she suffered a stroke and then only 3 months later was diagnosed with breast cancer, leaving her with hospital bills and expenses in excess of $50K.

In 2016 Michelle was included in a headcount reduction and lost her position at AT&T. Not finding work in the marketing field after a couple of years, she decided to get a real-estate license until she found something. Money started getting tight and to keep her head above water, she had to cut back on expenses, health benefits being one of them.

In early May of 2019, Michelle was in the final stage of the interview process for a job that could get her back on her feet. But things really started to go downhill. Almost the entire first floor of her home flooded from a faulty water pipe. Two days later she became suddenly unbalanced, disoriented and violently ill. She was taken to the hospital and was diagnosed with having a stroke that affected the lower left cerebellum impacting vision, balance and short-term memory. She was in ICU, in and out of consciousness, for almost a week and then in the hospital for another 2 weeks followed by 2 months of physical therapy. Not having health insurance, she was now tens of thousands of dollars in debt. Michelle was grateful to be alive and well . She was ready to move forward with her life, get back to real estate and start on her job search again.

In October of 2019, Michelle went to a free breast cancer screening and the results were devastating: a lump was found in her breast. In January of 2020, Michelle was diagnosed with breast cancer and needed a lumpectomy. As part of that surgery, the margins were biopsied and unfortunately the cancer had already spread to one of her lymph nodes. Michelle had to have another surgery in February to remove the lymph node but it didn’t end there.  She had to go through very aggressive chemotherapy treatments for 3 months to prevent further spread of the cancer. She had many, many complications and side effects from the chemo treatments and it was, by far, the hardest thing she had ever gone through. In June, she started radiation treatments that will continue for the next 2 months. Michelle is finally seeing light at the end of the tunnel: her bone and muscle pain is starting to fade, she’s regaining her strength, her skin is healing and she’s noticing hair regrowth.

As you can imagine, it’s been an incredibly rough road for Michelle. She’s keeping her spirits up – and her faith hasn’t wavered. Her goal is to complete her treatments and be cancer free by her 50th birthday this August! What an amazing gift that will be for her!

Please, please find it in your hearts to help Michelle by contributing whatever amount you can spare – every single dollar counts. And please, please, please share this with friends and acquaintances so that we may help make a difference in Michelle’s life. If you’re in a hiring capacity or can help her with contacts and networking in the marketing field, she would so appreciate it. Thank you all and God bless Michelle!
