Medical Bills for Ruth Caccamisi

Donation protected
We are good friends with the Caccamisi Family and want to help by raising money for unexpected medical bills from Ruth's trip to the hospital. Below is a post from Beth that explains what happened on April 12, 2024:

In everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:18

It has been an emotional few days but I write this to share the goodness of God and that he still works miracles, and we give him all the glory.

Friday night we went to watch a friend play baseball and chose a place to sit that is almost near impossible (so we thought) to get hit with a ball. But the impossible happened and a foul ball went over the fence straight up and back down hitting my friend and hitting our sweet Ruth in the forehead that she was holding. She was crying but bleeding from her nose.
It has been a whirlwind. Of prayers. Of numb. Of trauma. Of praise. Of tears. Of joy. Of unknowns. Of quick answered prayers. And everything else.

She was taken by ambulance to Dell Children's where the Emergency team, Trauma team, Neurological team, plastic surgery team, PICU team and multiple (dozens even) nurses and doctors took care of our Ruth. Not to mention the EMT and pediatrician at the baseball field that happen to be there to help with our sweet girl.

Her CT scan showed a brain bleed, so for the next 36 hours they hooked her up and monitored her for seizures in the PICU. They also did an MRI scan to check for deeper damage. The silver lining to being a newborn is that your skull is not completely closed so she had plenty of room for expansion with the bleeding, whereas with a closed skull there would have been pressure on the brain.

She never had seizures. She didn't have any swelling beyond where the ball hit her. Her MRI came back completely clear. She has no permanent damage anywhere. She never even took pain medicine. Praise God.

We got to go home on 4/14 with a healthy (5-week-old tomorrow) with just two black eyes. The blood in her brain will just be absorbed over time.

Thank you, God, for the hundreds of prayers joined together. For our sweet friends, family, and church family for being available for anything anytime. For the people that jumped in to help when we needed it. For a calm paramedic, for an amazing hospital team, for all the calls, texts, food, encouragement and there is so much more I can't think of it all. Thank you for an amazing husband that sang sweet worship songs over our baby while we waited for the ambulance. Thank you, God, for your protection and healing and miracles. Thank you for what could have been so tragic you turned around for good!

Sometimes things happen that bring us together. They bring perspective. I am humbled by how much people come together that love the Lord for people they don't know.

Ruth is doing great. We ask that you continue to pray for her long-term health as we have follow up appointments, for my sweet friend that took the brunt of the blow from the ball and for the kiddos playing ball that their hearts would be encouraged. Let it be a reminder of how amazing our God is. Let it encourage your heart! Let it drive a deeper desire for you to know our amazing God even more. I pray that this story continues to see fruit long after the healing.
