Meet Kota — our energetic, goofy, and lovable pup who joined our family in August of last year. He’s now 11 months old and has filled our home with joy, laughter, and a whole lot of zoomies. We all love him so much.
This past Wednesday, Kota started acting differently. He wasn’t feeling well — he threw up a few times, lost his appetite, and by the weekend, he had become unusually quiet and lethargic. We knew something wasn’t right.
On Saturday, we rushed him to an emergency animal hospital. After some tests and x-rays, we received devastating news: Kota had eaten a piece of clothing, and it caused two dangerous blockages in his intestines. The only way to save his life was immediate emergency surgery.
He was transferred to another emergency hospital in Kingston where he underwent surgery in the middle of the night. We spoke with the surgeon early Sunday morning, and thankfully, the surgery went well. If all continues to go well, we’ll be able to bring him home soon — but he still has a tough recovery ahead of him.
As many pet owners know, emergency veterinary care is incredibly expensive — and this sudden, life-saving surgery has placed an immense financial burden on our family. We are doing everything we can, but we’re reaching out to our friends, family, and community for help.
Every little bit helps, whether it’s a donation or simply sharing this page. Thank you for supporting Kota and helping us give him the care he needs to heal and come home.
