Medical Bills for Kathy Ebding ❤️

I am reaching out to you today on behalf of my dear friend Kathy Ebding. To know this beautiful woman is to love her. August 16, 2023, just 1 day after her 68th Birthday, Kathy was diagnosed with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) aka Lou Gehrig’s Disease. ALS is a debilitating neurological disease that affects the nerve cells responsible for controlling voluntary muscles, gradually leading to paralysis. Back to the year 2020, 3 days before she retired, she was diagnosed with cancer. She was treated for that in the beginning of 2021. By the grace of God, she was told it shrunk and was stable. Three months later she was in the emergency room with diverticulitis caused by the cancer treatments. Emergency surgery removed a portion of her colon and left her with a colostomy bag for 6 months. That was her 2022! Right after the second surgery is when all this started. She was misdiagnosed for 10 months with Guillain-Barre Syndrome so they gave her multiple infusions eight hours long to reverse the GBS, but they didn’t know the reality was she had ALS! Kathy can no longer walk and is in a wheel chair full time, with hand and arm weakness increasing. Kathy’s best friend and husband of 23 years, Marty, who would without a doubt, walk through fire for his beloved wife, is still working and providing round the clock care for Kathy, as well as caring for their daily needs, their dog, Lucy, and their home. He is determined to give Kathy a life of love, fun, adventure, and experience as much as possible in her limited remaining years. In addition, Marty is planning a cross-country trip to the Grand Canyon before she can no longer travel. With your support, we can help Kathy and her family navigate the challenges of this devastating condition, and bring hope and comfort to their life. It is estimated that on average, it can cost a patient with ALS $100,000-$200,000 out of pocket. To help compensate for the ever increasing lack of mobility, Kathy needs a wheelchair accessible vehicle, lifts, a specialized bed and equipment. She will also need to modify her house so that every day tasks are manageable. There are many cost related to ALS, including medical testing, co-pays, at home care and travel expenses. A donation fund will help tremendously as the Ebding family continues to navigate this long and complicated journey. The Ebdings’ are beyond humbled and grateful for the support
