Earlier this week my dear friend Chip George, a firefighter and paramedic in Spotsylvania County, was involved in a serious accident while working at home in his yard. Chip suffered a traumatic fall from a height of over 25 feet which resulted in compression fractures in two vertebrae, a broken rib, bruised lungs and a minor pneumothorax.
Chip and his amazing wife Sami are new parents to an adorable 10-month-old boy and owners of a farmhouse fixer-upper on 5 acres in the country outside Richmond. Chip and Sami recently decided to rely more heavily on Chip's income so that Sami could spend more time at home with their sweet son. Sami has been so thankful for the opportunity to devote more time to raising their little boy, and while giving up her full-time job has been a blessing for the past few months, the bills from Chip's accident are already weighing on the family.
With so much uncertainty around the timeline for healing from his injuries and returning to duty, we're raising money to assist with their medical bills and keep them afloat during Chip's recovery. Our goal is to raise $10,000 to support this family during their time of need. No amount is too small when you're a young family struggling to stay ahead of mounting bills in the face of an unexpected accident. Skip your latte tomorrow, cook at home one night this week instead of grabbing take-out and instead donate those few dollars to help my dear friends pay their medical bills, their mortgage and utilities and buy groceries.
Chip has been serving his community as a firefighter and paramedic in Spotsylvania for the past 5 years and has assisted in saving the lives and homes of countless people. Anyone who knows this family, knows that they would be the first ones to donate to a cause like this, and that they will be truly grateful and humbled by your help during this difficult time.
If you'd like to donate to assist this family during Chip's recovery there are a few ways to help:
1. Donate through GoFundMe
2. Donate directly to Chip & Sami through their Venmo accounts
3. Contact us directly at [email redacted] for more information about mailing a check or gift card to the family.
Thank you so much for your help!
