We are communicating with you on behalf of our dear friend and colleague Leyda Trujillo, who one day faced a diagnosis of breast cancer.

On July 16, 2025, she underwent a mammogram of her left breast, in which two masses were detected. On July 22, she underwent a biopsy of her left breast and a biopsy of her left armpit. On July 28, she received a diagnosis that changed her life overnight: she was diagnosed with stage 3-2 breast cancer. She was informed that it is an aggressive cancer that grows very quickly.

Complications continued as the breast biopsy became infected, and the infection took a month and two weeks to heal. During that time, the antibiotics were changed three times.

During these months, medical examinations have continued, revealing high blood pressure, cholesterol and type 2 diabetes. An axillary biopsy, MRI with and without contrast, and mammograms have been repeated since the cancer has spread to the lymph nodes.

On September 25, 2025, she underwent surgery to insert the chemotherapy port, and on October 13, she began her first chemotherapy. The treatment will be red chemotherapy, which is the strongest type, and will last 12 weeks (once a week) and then twice a month. Upon completion of chemotherapy, radiation therapy will be followed by surgery.

All of these tests have caused Leyda to be absent from work, resulting in financial losses due to work interruptions and medical expenses, as this is an extremely costly condition. That's why we've created this GoFundMe campaign to support Leyda and provide her with the financial support she needs to continue her recovery.
