Medical Bills, Because 2021, Sigh.

Dearest friends,

As a lot of you know, I’ve had an interesting medical journey over the past eight months or so. After being admitted to hospital in May due to a toe infection, I’ve been slowly recovering both back home and on my stay here in Portland.

Despite me being very careful, maintaining good diet, etc., a small personal nightmare of mine has come true: I had to rely on US emergency healthcare. This obviously comes at a price for a devious uninsured foreigner, and with the effects of COVID and my medical tribulations laying waste to my career as a bar owner, this comes at a most unfortunate time.

As it turns out the connecting joint in my left big toe had also been infected since well before I left Denmark, it simply broke one day. On New Year’s Eve, we went to the emergency room, and on January 3rd, I was discharged with one more toe chopped off.

Not to worry, it should be the last one! My blood work and all other lab stuff was actually pretty darn amazing. So I finally have something to look forward to in terms of healing. You can’t believe how much hope that gives me, so I have absolutely no regrets about having the surgery done. I cannot thank the excellent doctors and nursing staff at Providence St Vincent enough for their help and advice.

But not gonna lie, the money hurts. All in all, I’m looking at roughly 20,000 dollars in medical bills.

As many people have said I should put up a GoFundMe, I decided I’ll give it a try. I humbly
