Medical bills for mother in-law in hospital in Egypt
Donation protected
Update:
Margaret has been back home in her house as of last Friday.
We had to pay for repatriation, therefore, thank you once again for the support. We are very lucky to have such kind and caring friends, family and even people who do not even know us who wanted to help. There really is far more good in the world than bad.
Next we are trying to get help from the ministry of tourism to help fight the hospital bill. Wish us luck please.
Thank you, The Houghtons
Update 29.05.25:
Margaret is a lot better, however, the hospital will not discharge/airline won't let her fly without medical esort with oxygen.
The travel insurance did give good news yesterday, they will pay hospital bill, however, she needs to pay for own repatriation, which is looking at £12-£30k. Unless we can find a doctor willing to go out and fly back with her. If anyone knows any, please urgently get in touch!
Hi everyone,
My lovely mother in-law, Margaret, is currently ill in hospital in Egypt with pneumonia. This would have been stressful enough for her and the whole family, except the travel insurance have reviewed the entire gp record and are refusing to pay out in full due to a couple of discrepancies.
My sister in-law has been completely honest with them at all stages and given information to the best of her knowledge, but they have unfortunately decided to only cover 60% of the bills, leaving Margaret liable for thousands of pounds currently (and still mounting as they are saying she needs to stay till 24th May at least for a CT scan!)
We wouldn't usually do something like this, however, the situation is becoming increasingly hopeless for all of us. If anyone could help in any way towards the medical expenses, no matter how small, it would greatly appreciated.
If we manage to overthrow the travel insurance company's decision and are able to have 100% payment, we will, of course, refund everyone.
(Just an explanation on why the target keeps changing, every day Margaret is over there, this is incurring more costs. Hoping for a quick a full recovery soon!)
Thank you,
The Houghton family
