Hi, my name is Christie Bjorklund and I’m fundraising on behalf of my nephew Michael Hay. Michael has been in intensive care in Phnom Penh, Cambodia since August 25, 2025, following a serious motorcycle accident. The funds raised will help with the medical bills, which are approximately $1,000.00 USD/day which has exceeded Michael’s ability to pay. Michael was intubated until a few days ago when they performed a tracheostomy. He has a bacterial infection and pneumonia and cannot have surgical repairs done on his foot/ankle, wrist/hand and skin grafts, until he is able to breathe on his own. Our goal is to have the major surgeries performed in Canada. Post operations Michael will require occupational, speech and physiotherapy services as well as possible ongoing oxygen support.
