Medical Bills and Out of Pocket Mental Health Care
I thought long and hard about if I should do this.
Long story short I am drowning in debt in medical bills from when I had my accident in 2017 and broke my femur.
In 2019 I had to take another medical absence from work.
Because of this I suffered an extreme loss of income, and was struggling to pay expensive copays for Physical Therapy, Therapy, and my psychiatrist.
I had to prioritize this, and could not pay the large medical bill sums, and was living on a credit card.
My partner has to pay all of our day-to-day bills and he suffered a loss of income due to COVID-19.
I am working part time from home at minimum wage. I do not have health insurance. I am almost out of my prescription medicine and I cannot afford the out of pocket cost to seek the professional care that I need.
I am trying to raise money to cover these out of pocket expenses.
My biggest fear is having to go to the emergency room and being slammed with a huge bill.
Unfortunately , the alternative would be to give up my job completely and apply for disability-coverage through Social Security. This is a last resort because I want to remain working.
Anything helps. I should not have been so prideful in 2017 and asked for help when I was first injured. Instead I tried to make it work, which actually made things worse in the long term.
Thank you so much.
