Frankys Fight against Stage 4 Colon Cancer

Hello family and friends. This comes with a heavy heart to have to ask you all for help. It doesn’t come easy for us to have to ask for help but we sincerely are in desperate need during this difficult time. Bills are pilling up very quickly and our funds are at a very low. During this time I have had to pay for all medical expenses out of pocket as the government assistance insurance we had was cut about a year ago. I have had to pay for medical insurance out of pocket for Franky, myself and our son. I’ve had to support us on just one income. And with everything that has happened with him being at the hospital I have completely run out of PTO/Vacation time at work. So I will not be having any income coming in. It’s getting to the point where I will have to choose between putting food on the table, what bills are more important, which medications and medical appointments we can afford. I know times are hard for many of us and it kills me to have to reach out for help. I am the type of person to literally do everything in my power to take care of my family and responsibilities before asking for help. But I am to the point we’re I am drowning and I have to put my pride aside and ask for help. So I ask you if there’s anything you can contribute and I truly mean anything, it will help alleviate some of our stresses and worries. So that we are able to focus on what’s really important and getting my husband through this difficult battle with cancer. If you can please share this with all your family and friends to get the word out it would mean so much to us. I’m so sorry to have to ask for help during these times, especially with the holidays around the corner. So again if there’s anything you can help our family with it would mean more than you will ever know. And most importantly if you can please keep us in your prayers for strength, complete healing and comfort. We are forever thankful and there are no words to describe the gratitude for helping our little family.
God bless you and your families!
We have been fighting this battle for almost 5yrs now. Many of you may now how difficult and long this journey has been, but for those of you who are just hearing our story we will share a little bit about what we have been through these last few years.
My husband Franky has been dealing with health issues since he was about 12yrs old. He had a pre cancerous mass and polyps that required extensive surgery to remove. He had part of his intestine removed and had a really hard difficult recovery. Fast forward years later in the beginning of 2019 he started to feel very I’ll and went to the hospital. Come to find he had another mass in his colon which is when we got the devastating news that he was diagnosed with colon cancer. He had to undergo his first round of chemotherapy and radiation. After treatment he once again had to have surgery to remove the mass and had to get a temporarily colostomy bag. The following year of 2020 he had surgery once again to reverse the colostomy bag and reconstruct his colon. Later that year he was having various complications with the reconstruction as the radiation had damaged nerves and the healing process. All around this time as things weren't hard enough to deal with, I lost my job, and our home and in less than a month I had to find another job and somewhere to live as we had no where else to go. In early of 2021 we got more bad news, that the cancer had spread from his colon to his lungs. He then had to undergo his 2nd round of chemotherapy. At this point they had to stop treatment to address the issues he was having with the complications with the reconstruction of his colon and had to have surgery. They weren’t able to save his colon so he unfortunately he has to have the colostomy bag permanently for the rest of his life. In 2022 he underwent his 3rd round of chemotherapy and radiation. After treatment he had yet again another surgery that was very extensive to remove the masses that had spread to his lungs. At the end of 2022 after routine scans and testing we got results that showed cancerous spots reappearing in his lungs. In early 2023 he underwent extensive radiation treatment. Which at that point they deemed it stage 4 colon cancer. A few months later they did scans and still saw the spots but they said that radiation can take 3-6months to fully run it’s course. In November of this year 2023 they did scans and we got bad news once again that the cancer was back in both his lungs. So on December 7th, 2023 we were told that he had to undergo his 4th round of chemotherapy, radiation and have yet another surgery. And on December 12, 2023 (which is one of the worst days of our lives) after I got off work we went to Target. Just casually shopping and out of nowhere Franky started having a seizure and fell to the ground (later to find out that he fractured his nose from the fall) It was one of the scariest things I’ve had to go through. Paramedics had to rush him to the hospital and After many test and scans we got the most devastating news that the cancer had also spread to his brain. He underwent emergency brain surgery where they were able to remove the tumor from his brain. Now we have to face more treatment to his brain and lungs. And possibly another surgery to remove the masses in his lungs.
