Medical bills, and coming home

Hi all!  As many of you know, Lauren,  her
husband and newborn baby girl were in a terrible car accident the night of May 3rd, 2021. Baby girl Ariella was just 10 days old. Ariella  was fine and had zero injuries, Thank god! Frankie broke his knee and is now home recovering, he has started PT and is getting better everyday. Lauren unfortunately got the brunt of the accident. She shattered both of her femurs, has multiple fractured ribs and a fractured sternum.  I was lucky enough to call and get ahold of Lauren the morning after the accident when she was in the ICU at Mount Carmel East. Lauren explained to me her injuries and a little about the accident, she told me they were waiting for her to stabilize a little so they could take her to the OR to fix her broken legs. Tuesday afternoon they took her back for surgery and things did not go as planned, Lauren had PEs (pulmonary embolism) and a fatty pulmonary emboli (in her lungs) causing complications during surgery. Surgery was stopped to stabilize her and she required a  special machine called ECMO. Since needing this machine she would need transferred to OSU, but at this point she was not stable enough to transport. The next day they were  successfully able to transfer her to the Ross Heart Hospital and stabilize her. Lauren was still in critical condition for the next week or so and was  fighting  for her life. By her stubbornness and fighting so hard she was able to get fully off of ECMO that following Monday, although she remained on the ventilator. On may 12th they were able to take her to the OR to do surgery on her left knee-and that surgery went well no complications. On Saturday May 15th they attempted to take her to the OR for surgery on her right femur and unfortunately again had some complications with her breathing so surgery was stopped again. They gave her a day to rest and recover and took her back to the OR on Monday 5/17 and were able to successfully fix her left leg, and Tuesday 5/18 fix her right leg . Tuesday night she was  extubated and  is now vent free and breathing on her own only requiring a little amount of oxygen. So here we are on the road to recovery and everyday she is getting a little better.

Lauren and Frankie are such amazing people and would help anyone whenever they could. Frankie will be out of work for a couple of months and unfortunately this is his busy time of the year.  Lauren is a loving, amazing hardworking nurse who was already on maternity leave. They went from a 2 income household down to no income.

If you are in a position to help donate please do.  Please do not feel obligated. I know so many people have already stepped up and donated to the family and that has been so very much appreciated. Several People have asked me about a gofundme.  If we could please spread the word and share this post, hopefully we could raise a little relief to help this wonderful family in the time of need!

Thank you all so much for the texts, donations, and PRAYERS. Please keep the prayers coming  as they are still needed and as Lauren has a long road of recovering ahead of her. ❤️ Lauren is a fighter and does not give up. She’s got this and is working hard to get home to her kids!
