Recovery Fund for Cody Miller

Whether you’ve met Cody Miller once or are an acquaintance, a coworker, or one of the lucky people who get to call him friend/family, you know what a beam of light Cody is. Cody is a fiercely loyal friend, he is the best listener, he is generous with everything he has, and he is hilarious. A world without Cody would be so much darker, and there are no words to express how grateful we are that he’s here.
Without access to proper support and care, Cody experienced a mental health crisis last week. Cody is now safe and physically healthy. He is getting the care and support he deserves -- but recovering from something like this is hard and it takes time. Additionally, in-patient programs, ambulance, and ER bills are very expensive. Just one day in his facility without insurance can cost over $6,800. In an effort to make Cody’s transition out of his care facility as comfortable as possible, we aim to cover the cost of a few months of rent, ambulance and ER bills, and groceries. We also hope to make a dent in the bills from his hospital stay.
With Cody’s consent, I have started this GoFundMe to alleviate the above financial hardships and the associated stress during his recovery. It is difficult for him to accept money, but Cody deserves the world and this is one small way we can all show him how loved and valued he is.
Those who have lost or almost lost a loved one to suicide, or those who’ve had suicidal ideation themselves know, how isolating and insidious this disease can be. Suicidal thoughts, intent, and action are not signs of weakness or quality of character. In order to eradicate suicide we have to destigmatize it, and in order to destigmatize it, we have to talk about it without judgement. Throughout this process, I have been astonished by Cody’s bravery. He is candid about his struggle with mental illness and suicidal thoughts, he is doing the necessary work to recover. He even made friends and continues to support others in his program (no surprise there.)
Please donate what you can for this wonderful human and share this with others. No amount is too small. And if you ever have thoughts of death or dying, please reach out for help. You are loved and you are not alone.
