On behalf of my cousin Magali, we have started a GoFundMe to help her and her wife during a very trying time in their life. On March 3rd, 2022, Magali was diagnosed with cancer. Surgery was set for the end of March to remove part of her colon and her right ovary. A basketball sized tumor had been removed and biopsied and it was discovered to have been stage 4 colon cancer. In April of 2022, at her first MD Anderson visit, they had found a 10cm mass on her left ovary. She was treated with chemo and by the end of June, it had shrunk down to 5cm. In August of 2022, she went in for her second surgery to remove the left ovary. Chemo was then resumed until the beginning of December, and then halted when there was no evidence of the cancer in her scans. Fast forward to February 15th, 2023, the cancer was back and unfortunately stronger and chemo would have to start back up again. On July 20th, 2023, in Houston, it had been discovered that the cancer had spread to her bones, she had a T9 fracture, and mini micro fractures throughout her femur. A Kyphoplasty procedure was done in her spine and an abrasion on one of the tumors in her spine. While having to stay in Houston for about 2 weeks, 5 rounds of radiation were done. After being released from the hospital, Magali's body became very weak and she had to be placed in a wheelchair. On August 9th she went in for a chemo appointment and ended up being admitted for low hemoglobin levels. Bacteria was found in her blood that caused an infection that ended up leading to her hip bone. After being put on antibiotics, surgery on her hip was done September 1st. After a full week of being bedridden, Magali's feet finally touched the ground. Praise God! But this is only the beginning for Magali as now she has to undergo physically therapy to try and regain her strength. She has not been able to walk in over a month but we have seen her overcome so much already we know she is capable of anything!!
