Hi everyone, so Josh and I have been having some medical issues and could really use your help. It all started 5 weeks ago when I started to exhibit Serotonin Syndrome. It was caught quickly but it meant making a lot of med changes and having a lot of doctors appointments. I also had to lessen the amount of work I was doing for my business and fully take leave from my tutoring job. Those first 3 weeks were quite the struggle. Well then about 2 weeks ago Josh's eye started bothering him. Josh does not have health insurance but we ended up having to take him to the ER where they misdiagnosed him with a corneal abrasion and sent him home saying it would heal in 2 days. It did not and only got worse. Then on August 12th I started feeling dizzy and my vision started to go black in the shower. I quickly got out but woke up a few seconds later on the floor. Josh was in the bathroom but only caught me after I had smacked my head on the bathroom cabinet. I was not feeling well at all so Josh decided to stay with me and take me to the er. Since he was going to stay home and his eye was just getting worse we also made him an eye doctor appointment that day. The ER refused to treat me even though my primary care wanted to get me a brain scan. So we went on to Josh's eye doctor appt. He had a large ulcer on his eye. They prescribed antibiotics. I was seen by my doctor the next day but then ended up in the ER that night. A brain CT came back normal but I have a moderate to severe concussion. I saw my doctor to follow up yesterday. He says I have several weeks of recovery ahead of me and if I'm not feeling any better in 4 weeks he wants a brain MRI instead. Josh has been following up with eye doctors every couple of days and had to see a corneal specialist. He is finally on the mend courtesy of some very potent compounded eye drops that cost us $250. I will continue to be unable to do much in the way of working for the weeks to come. Josh is working but it is difficult. So far, since he doesn't have insurance we have spent about $1000 on Josh's eye not including the ER bill to come. That doesn't include my own ER bills or copays. We have nearly depleted our savings and our credit cards. We are hoping for any help including just sharing this fundraiser. If you prefer not to donate via gofundme feel free to reach out to me. Thank you for all your help.
