Medical Bill Fund for Toe Amputation Surgery

Donation protected
On the fourth of July, Zach Eiten and I were near 12,700 ft on Granite Peak (Montana) when disaster struck. Less than 100 feet below the summit Zach set up an anchor to belay me up, when natural rockfall came tumbling down. The rockfall displaced the rock that Zach was using as an anchor, causing Zach, the anchor, and numerous rocks to fall down the gully he had ascended. Luckily the only injury sustained in the accident was four broken toes.

After a painful 12 hour descent back to camp, Gallatin County was able to get a helicopter out to rescue us from camp. From there Zach took an ambulance to a local hospital, where X-rays confirmed the four broken toes.

Four weeks later, and Zach is now enduring dry gangrene on his middle broken toe, and the toe needs to be removed. Thanks to excessively high medical care costs, crappy insurance, and inadequate short term disability coverage, Zach is looking at a tough financial situation.

So I created this gofundme to try and lighten the load. Any little bit helps and every bit will be greatly appreciated! If you can't support financially please send this on to someone you know who might be able to. Zach is an active member of the climbing community here in Colorado and I hope you fellow climbers can empathize with the situation.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns, or if you want to help support Zach in another way! Thank you for taking the time to read through this and thank you for passing it on!
