Medical Bills from Massive Stroke

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Chuck Kincaid and I am fundraising for help with my medical bills. I am a husband, father, Poppi to my grandkids, pastor and I work a secular job as well.

On May 24, 2022, I had just finished my workout at the gym. I felt a pinch in my right shoulder and quickly realized that I was having a stroke. I managed to get to the desk and tell them to I was having a stroke and to call 911, then I lost strength and slithered down the wall to the floor.

In just a couple of minutes, I lost my ability to speak and all feeling and ability to move on my right side. I was rushed to the University of Michigan Hospital where I remained for the next 6 1/2 weeks. This stroke caused a very large brain bleed. This was a devastating attack on my life, and my body soon quickly began to fill up with blood clots. I had them in both of my legs, both lungs and left arm. Doctors told us that they had never seen this happen to this extent and so quickly. This happened within a week.

I was now quite difficult to treat because I had a brain bleed, so blood thinners were a problem, but I needed the blood thinners to help the with the blood clots. My legs swelled up to twice the size and it was very difficult for people to assist me, as my legs were extremely heavy which made repositioning and moving me very difficult. I was also on a feeding tube, had trouble swallowing and my wife couldn't even put water on my toothbrush to brush my teeth or I would choke. Things were pretty bad.

Doctors told us that with the type of stroke I had, that only about 10% of people survive, and of that 10%, only 10% of them recover. But I have been told by all my doctors that I will fully recover, but it is going to be a LONG journey.

Our mighty God has more than surpassed my recovery from where the doctors thought I would be at this stage, even though everyday life is still a challenge as well as a battle. I have about 95% of my speech back. I am able to walk with a cane, but my walking is still impaired, and I can only walk for short distances. My balance still needs to improve quite a bit as well. My right arm and hand are gaining in movement, but they too, are still quite impaired.

With 6 1/2 weeks in the hospital and months of rehab, the medical expenses are growing. And now, my insurance is not wanting to cover my rehab, which I so desperately need. So now that is another expense that, even though I need this to help me recover, I cannot afford to continue on my own.

We have had to and still need to make modifications to our home to accommodate the needs and challenges I now have.

My wife has had to reduce her hours at work to be home with me. Luckily, I have a great support system with my family and could not do this without them.

I have been able to return to work a couple of days a week and can work some from home as well, but I was unable to do this until October. So, from May 24 to October 3rd, I was unable to work. I am still unable to drive so I must rely on someone to take me to work, appointments, etc. As a pastor, I am also slowly working my way back into the pulpit and back to preaching. I do not receive a salary from my church as it is my honor just to serve Jesus.

While I know God is bringing about complete healing, I still have quite a journey ahead of me. I am asking for donations to help cover insurance claims, hospital bills, rehab, and home modifications. I will continue to fight for my recovery and rest in God's promise of complete and full healing.
