Kenneth (KJ) Hunter was severely injured in a shop accident Saturday, September 1st, when a vehicle he was working on fell on him. He sustained serious facial and skull fractures. KJ was flown to Missoula and as soon as he arrived at the hospital the medical team performed surgery to release pressure on his brain.
St. Patrick's Hospital medical team cared for KJ through the first three days of his hospitalization. He was then flown in the early morning hours of September 5th to Seattle's Harborview Medical Center.
KJ has been heavily sedated through this trauma to give his brain and lungs time to heal and for the swelling to subside. While in Missoula he was able to follow simple commands, which is a win!!
Today KJ will undergo another surgery to removed blood clots that are forming in his brain. He is in for a long haul to recovery. The specialists will not know the full extent of his injuries until they are able to bring him out of sedation to performs eyesight, cognitive and other testing.
The medical team stated KJ will require several more surgeries due to the extent of his injuries.
KJ's family asks for prayers for his healing. They appreciate all of the kindness that has been shown to them and KJ over the past few days.
KJ's parents, Marty and Lisa Hunter have been staples in the Deer Lodge community. They have helped many others in their time of need.
