Hi this is my son Nick he is 19yrs of age. Almost 4 months ago now my son was admitted into ICU at the Princess Alexandra hospital in Brisbane. He was diagnosed with acute respiratory failure due to blood clots on his lungs and also has a blood clot on his brain. My son was put into an induced coma on life support. He endured 2 lots of ecmo which is where blood tubes are attached to either side of his groin and from one tube blood is removed from his body into a machine to oxygenate his blood then put back into his body after the process is complete. This equates to the body running 20+ marathons back to back. Nick has had 25% of his lungs removed as they had died and were causing problems.
Only now there is a positive vibes from his doctor and I am finally being told Nick has fought the battle of his life and the prognosis looks good I have been by my sons side everyday and with the cost of travelling everyday, parking and associated costs of medical purchases I have spent all of my savings. My son will continue to be in hospital for up to another 12 months as he will have to learn to walk, talk, eat, write all the basics as his body is so deconditioned from his illness. If u have even a $1 to donate my family would be so appreciative. Thank you for your time. Kind regards, Katrina and family xo
