Hi, my name is Vivian Onyekwere. I am seeking your financial assistance to help me with my mounting medical bills for myself and my senior brother, Chijioke Ani who lives in Nigeria recovering from prostate and hernia surgeries he had on December 1, 2025.
My dear brothers and sisters, I have been suffering from debilitating health issues since 1999. starting when I got injured by a patient. Due to the injury, I had spinal fusion surgery in 2000 and removal of the metal from my back in 2002. Since then, I’ve endured the following health conditions:
- Bilateral shoulder surgeries in 2002, 2019, 2021 and 2024
- Right knee surgeries in 2005 and 2008
- Laminectomy back surgery in 2022
- Total right knee replacement on February 21, 2025, due to a fall on September 5, 2024.
- Fractured my T-11 and T-12 lower back vertebrae, due to a fall in March 2024
- A fall that critically injured my back vertebrae in 2021 from slipping on black ice
- Diagnosed with collapsed lungs and enlarged heart in June 2025 leading to serious breathing issues
- Cataracts and glaucoma on both of my eyes
As my health has declined, I didn’t have any other choice than to retire from the job I love, taking care of others, to take care of myself, which has hurt me financially due to the number of medical treatments I need. Due to multiple falls I have had over the years, my whole spine is in bad condition, leading me to potentially needing another spine surgery in 2026 to address the issues on my neck and T-11, T-12 vertebrae. Along with this, I will be having surgeries to remove cataracts and treatment for glaucoma on both eyes in January and February 2026.
With my continuously growing medical debt, I haven’t been able to take care of myself, along with my brother Chijioke, who lives in Nigeria. I have supported him financially to ensure he has food, water, and shelter, but recently he got diagnosed with stage 3 prostate cancer and hernia. Although thankfully, he was able to receive treatment for his prostate and he was able to get surgery from his hernia, his condition is steadily in decline from infections he has prior to his surgeries. With him needing to visit a doctor to treat these, his medical bills have begun to mount, making it hard for me to continue assisting him with all his basic needs, along with his own medical treatment.
Please, with what your financial assistance you’re able to provide, I am hoping that my brother and I can attain the medical treatment that we need and help pay down the medical costs that come with it. I want to thank you in advance for your willingness to support us and pray for us in these hard journey of life.
Sincerely,
Vivian
