A Call for Support: Help Us Care for Our Beloved Sheila Pinder-Taylor
On Tuesday, September 2nd, 2025, while visiting with a fellow church member, our beloved Sheila Pinder-Taylor began showing signs of a medical emergency. Paramedics were called immediately, and she was rushed to Rand Memorial Hospital, where doctors confirmed that Sheila had suffered a massive ischemic stroke on the left side of her brain.
This stroke has left Sheila with significant challenges. She currently has limited responsiveness, noticeable facial asymmetry, and weakness on the right side of her body. She is unable to speak or swallow and has been placed on a feeding tube. Due to complications, she has also developed aspiration pneumonia, which has led to a serious chest infection and requires close medical monitoring.
Doctors have informed us that Sheila’s journey to recovery will be long and demanding. She will need extensive physical and speech therapy to regain mobility, communication skills, and overall strength. In addition, she will now require multiple daily medications for the rest of her life to help prevent another stroke.
As part of our commitment to providing the best care possible, we are seeking a second opinion from a private medical institution to explore all potential avenues for her recovery. These treatments, evaluations, and ongoing care come with significant costs, and we are reaching out to our community for support.
If you know Sheila, you know her generous heart, infectious laughter, and the joy she brings to every room she enters. She has always lived a life full of love, compassion, and faith; a true light in the lives of everyone she touches.
Our family is dedicated to doing everything within our power to help Sheila regain as much of her independence and happiness as possible. We are humbly asking for your help during this difficult time. Any financial contribution you can make will go directly toward her medical expenses, therapies, and care. Sheila is a kind-hearted, loving woman who has touched so many lives with her joy and laughter. Now, it’s our turn to show her the same love and support she has always given.
