Medical Assistance for Kathe Lyth
Donation protected
Dear friends, we are writing on behalf of our beautiful mother Kathe Lyth. Over the last 4 years, she has been fighting liver cancer which metastasized in her bones. Her tenacity and positive outlook have been so inspiring to witness over these years, and both radiation and immunotherapy have helped her persevere. Unfortunately, the radiation compromised her bones, creating holes in her pelvis and ribs.
On June 30th, 2020 a small movement caused her pelvis to collapse. After a traumatic week in the hospital, we insisted she return home, but she remains essentially immobile and is in constant pain. We are working around the clock to help her in any way that we can, but until we can get her successfully from a wheelchair to a car and into town, we can’t continue her immunotherapy appointments which are essential for her cancer treatments. Because of this, we are hoping to find a specialist who can help with occupational therapy, as well as a nurse who can help us at home to aid with pain management and help her regain some mobility. Of course, this type of in-home therapy is costly and not covered by her insurance. Also, she continues to need expensive supplements to sustain her while she remains off of immunotherapy, and additionally, we are hoping to get a wheelchair set up in order to get her outside, where she is most happy. It is devastating to watch this beautiful, strong, active woman we love so much in pain and unable to fully function, but we need to join her in the optimism that eventually she will heal. For this reason, we are reaching out to our community. Any assistance from you, big or small, will help us immensely to get her the treatment she needs.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this, and for your support ❤️.
