Medical Assistance For Evera

Evera is a 6 year old young lady that I care for in my pediatric practice.  Her mother, Ms. Laura LaVeck, unfortunately lost Evi's sister due to the same illness, following a bone marrow transplant two years ago.  Evi and her deceased sister are the only known siblings with this illness for which there is limited treatment for.  Evi has a very rare genetic disorder that results in her eventual bone marrow failure, which will require a bone marrow transplantation. As her physician, I last evaluated her on March 17th of this year, when it was determined that her blood counts were worsening and were suggestive of decreasing bone marrow function. Evi had an older sister who succumbed to the same illness following her own transplantation. Her care for this disorder and transplant will be performed at Boston Children's Hospital, where her sister was cared for. Unfortunately, her mother has very limited resources for both transportation and living expenses while she is in the Boston area.  This fundraiser was established to assist her mother with related costs for Evi and her younger sister while they will be staying in Boston for an extended period of time.
