I have been admitted in the ICU for sometime now I was transferred to neurology
I am being flown to UC SF I will be here for quite some time and then probably transfer to a rehabilitation hospital for possibly a year
I have been diagnosed with Guillain-Barré syndrome and a major spinal cord infection. The GB has created an autoimmune disease therefore my blood has started attacking not only its self but also my entire nervous system in my spinal cord. My white blood cell count is about triple, and I have lost the feeling from my belly button all the way down to my feet leaving me unable to walk.
This disease is uncureable
The symptoms are considered manageable however they have not yet been able to cure my infection therefore my symptoms are progressively getting worse and spreading up towards my lungs.
I may or may not recover from this and my symptoms may or may not progress or decrease.
When you Google it you must understand that what you read is not accurate for most people and I am that one of 20 million that is not responding to treatment.
How did I get this? I got food poisoning and the bacteria attached to my spine creating autoimmune disease and my body has been slowly attacking my nervous system
I'm looking for help as we have a small child and I'm not able to work and won't be able again and the travel expenses for my family to be able to visit me during this process also house improvements for when I return home as I'll need to change things at home in order to stay home
