Hi, my name is Liuda and I'm fundraising for my nephew, Illia Hordiienko (16), who lives in the city of Dnipro, Ukraine, who was involved in a road accident on Saturday, 4th April 2026. He was seriously injured and unable to move, and an ambulance took him to hospital immediately. He has undergone extensive examinations and his first operation and is currently in intensive care in a serious condition. He has already had multiple scans, blood and plasma transfusions, ultrasounds and an MRI. Doctors have diagnosed a hip fracture, concussion, a displaced pelvic fracture, a displaced forearm fracture, and a laceration to his lower back. Illia is able to speak, but he still cannot move. The medical team is doing everything possible to stabilise him and transfer him to a regular ward; however, further surgery may be needed if additional scans show that the bones are not in the correct position.

His parents are by his side, praying for his recovery. At the same time, they know that treatment and rehabilitation will be long and very expensive – medication, follow-up procedures, and essential equipment (including a special bed). Unfortunately, not all costs are covered, so the family has to rely largely on their own resources. In a country at war, where daily attacks and reduced income make it harder than ever to manage unexpected medical bills, we are asking for any support you can give. Even £1 or €1 can make a real difference and help Illia return to a normal life, finish school, and pursue the education he dreams of.
