Medical and Rehab Expenses for Scott Wakefield
Donation protected
On Sunday November 15, 2020, our friend Scott was hospitalized with severe Covid-19. Scott has spent 58 days in the hospital so far, with 42 of them being in the ICU on a ventilator. During this time, they kept him heavily sedated and paralyzed for almost 5 weeks.
Scott is currently awake, and the vent is now thru a trach. He has a feeding tube in his belly. He has sadly lost all muscle that he had. He cannot do any type of self-care and is completely dependent on the staff for everything. He cannot talk, sit up, push a button on a remote or lift a leg. He is back to the beginning on everything. This is very frustrating for Scott since he knows in his head what he wants to say or do, and he cannot do any of it.
There are so many unknowns for Scott’s future right now, and all of them come with significant expenses. Although Scott has health insurance, they unfortunately don’t cover everything. He will need inpatient acute care when he leaves the ICU and then extensive rehabilitation after that. He is looking at months and months of this, with minimal income, regular household bills and mounting medical bills. Scott needs our help. Any help would be much appreciated!
If you pray, please pray for a full recovery for Scott. He has an extremely tough road ahead of him. Despite his best efforts to social distance and be safe during the pandemic he contracted COVID-19. For those that know him, there are few people more caring who places everyone’s needs before his own. With laughter and a smile that is infectious, everyone who knows Scott loves him.
Thank you very much,
Scott Wakefield, family and friends.
